WHO IS
PoOL

I’m PoOL aka Popandtoys. I’m a Parisian artist and designer specializing in Art Toys. I have an extensive background and knowledge of Graffiti culture and am a supporter of pop culture. I am self-taught when it comes to designing and producing toys.

My inspiration is rooted in pop culture and my childhood toys. Toys are an essential part of me. It’s a positive nostalgia that reminds me of the good times and the good ol’ days. Coming from a modest family, I didn’t have the opportunity to collect figures. Disclaimer: I did not miss out on anything… my childhood was great! (My mom will kill me!) I do have tons of memories of my cousins’ and friends’ toys as well as vacations.

Now that I’m already an adult and earning a decent salary, I can finally have the figurines that I’ve always dreamt of having when I was a kid. You know, something similar to when we got that first pay and we finally bought the pair of Airmax or Jordans that made us drool as a teenager! The figurines are my “Madeleine de Proust”. They evoke a lot of emotions and provide inspiration.

I always like to create. First my drawings, then the graffiti, which played a huge part during my adolescence, and eventually the music which I’ve always practiced on a small scale (I am a sound engineer by profession too). Drawing never really left me. When Art Toys started emerging in France, I began to acquire a few pieces. I said to myself then, “Why not try it?”. It’s not really the lack of ideas that worried me; it’s the sculpture that scared me a little.
